Our Meetings
a. on a Sunday
Christ Church Earlsfield meets at 6.30pm on Sunday evenings at St John the Divine church building on Garratt Lane (click here to see a map and directions). Our meetings are informal, relaxed (in style and in dress code) and contemporary. Meetings usually last just over an hour and are followed by refreshments which gives us chance to get to know and to encourage one another. Our priority is to teach the Bible, and considerable emphasis is placed on trying to understand what God is saying to us from the text of the Bible.
b. in a normal week
There are opportunities each week to meet with other members of Christ Church Earlsfield. Small groups meet to study the Bible and pray together, and once a month we come together as a church instead of meeting as small groups for our prayer meeting. We’re convinced that we are dependent on God to prosper our church life and so we put prayer at the centre of all we do. We have a meal together, share the Lord’s Supper and then pray.
c. throughout the year
The church year starts in September with the church dinner. We look forward to what we’ve planned for the coming year.
In the autumn term we have our weekend away. We go to a nearby conference centre and invite an outside speaker to come and teach us from the Bible. It’s a good chance to get to know one another better and to hear some more great Bible teaching. The term concludes with our carol services, which are aimed at guests and are a good opportunity to invite friends to hear the good news of the gospel about Jesus Christ.
In the spring Term we have a day away, which includes teaching and encouraging, as well as good food and a walk!
In the summer term the year culminates with Revive, a weekend away joining with a number of other like-minded congregations from London that our part of the Co-mission family of churches (www.co-mission.org)
Revive has loads of great teaching combined with the chance to meet with lots of people from other congregations relaxing away from the busyness of life in London. We deliberately slow down in August so that everyone can enjoy a rest. Though we continue with church meetings, our small groups shut down and lots of people take the opportunity to help on a young people’s summer camp or to go away on holiday.
